The Pritzker Tech Talent Labs’ Community Education Unit is building programming for elementary, high school, and community college students to develop skills and careers into computing and tech-related fields.

Our Community Education Unit is building a suite of programs to guide historically
underrepresented students into CS and tech-related fields.

Digital Explorers

The Discovery Partners Institute (DPI), with support from Apple and CME Foundation, provides an exciting, hands-on opportunity for middle school students (6th – 8th grade) in our Digital Explorers program. Digital Explorers (DE), an eight-session mobile app development program for middle school students (6th through 8th grades) with an interest in tech, but limited experience, access, or awareness. DE will utilize Swift Playgrounds, Everyone Can Create curriculum, team-building activities, and human-centered design thinking challenges. Students will work with High School Near Peer Mentors and College Mentors enrolled at City Colleges and Chicago-area universities and develop skills in problem-solving and team building through human-centered design thinking activities.

Discover Computing

The Discovery Partners Institute (DPI), Wilbur Wright College, and Google Chicago are joining forces to offer a new two-part Discover Computing program series to help 9th and 10th graders build interest and awareness in pursuing CS and tech-related fields of study.

Digital Scholars

Offered in partnership with UIC CHANCE, UIUC Grainger College of Engineering, UIUC College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, and Swift, Digital Scholars is a six-week intensive summer program for rising 11th and 12th grade students, as well as first-year college students at City Colleges of Chicago and Illinois institutions, to build computing skills, increase college and career-readiness, and make connections to Chicago’s dynamic tech community.

Digital Bridge

Launched in partnership with Wilbur Wright College and World Business Chicago’s ThinkChicago program, Digital Bridge is a summer workshop series designed to support City Colleges of Chicago students along their progression into computing and tech-related careers.
