Discover Computing
Discover Computing is a multi-series program designed to build a deeper and more diverse pool of students pursuing computer science and tech-related fields of study in Illinois.
In the Fall of 2021, the Discover Computing Program launched in partnership with Google.org and Wilbur Wright College to support early high school students in building interest in computing and awareness of pathways into computer science and tech-related careers. To date, the program has reached over 300 youth.
This no-cost program is intentional about serving Black, Latine, female, gender-expansive, and first-generation youth from Chicago Public Schools and Chicago-area districts.
DC CONNECT with p5.js
This program will meet weekly on Saturdays
between January 24 and February 28, 2026
from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Throughout the p5.js series of the Discover Computing Program, participating 9th and 10th graders will CONNECT with their inner artist through creative coding projects using JavaScript and the p5.js platform. Participants will design and program personalized logos, public service announcements, interactive murals, and more!
This series is designed for youth who have some introductory-level experience with computer science.
Participating youth must commit to attending all 6 sessions as well as a mandatory, virtual program orientation.

Discover Computing is a multi-series program designed for early high school-aged youth to explore topics in tech and build a deeper understanding of computer science. If you are interested in learning more about technology, coding, design thinking, and problem-solving skills, this program is for you!
During these virtual informational sessions, you will learn more about Discovery Partners Institute, the Discover Computing Program and its key benefits for students, as well as have the opportunity to ask any outstanding questions.
All youth and caring adults (family, mentors, teachers, counselors, etc) are invited to register!
